Hello, my name is Gunter , I am a teacher in Innsbruck ,
I arrived in Ghana 2 weeks ago and I intend to stay for 6 weeks.
Meantimes the skin of my feet has turned to the redbrown colour of afrcan soil, so I guess that now I am definitively arrived in Ghana. It  will be unforgetable how warmly I was welcomed by the people of Guabuliga.
From next week on, the pupils have holliday and for that time I intend to keep a
Workshop for basic electric skills together with our electrician  named Baba.
For not to bore the pupils with to much theory and mathematics ,some teachers of my school donated  Instruments, a solar cell, electric parts, wires , 3 laptops,
a solder-iron... for practical exercices.
The childrens interrest was amazing, when I anounced the workshop on the kids meeting last week. Lets see what will happen, when I insist , that the participants have to come in time and for each lesson. I will report you more within the next two weeks.

Julia

Hello friends of Braveaurora,

My name is Julia and I am 24 years old. I`m here since one week and I will stay till the beginning of September as a Volunteer in Guabuliga .

In my first week I visited some lessons in the primary school and in the kindergarten, it`s very interesting how the school system works here. As you can see on the last block I also visited the quiz competition, where I handed the prices to the quiz groups. The children were very good at the quiz and they are also very inquisitive and motivated to learn.

In the next weeks, when the vacations start, I want to start a music workshop with the kids, because I found out, that they love to dance and sing. We will sing english songs  and play with the guitar and the drums. At the end we will perform it to the parents and the stuff of Braveaurora.  I`m looking forward to it and hope, the kids will enjoy it.

All together, I`m very happy to be here. Since my arrival last week I enjoy every day. All the people and the kids are so nice, it`s a pleasure to see and experience the helpfulness and the life desire they all have.

Quiz competition

Hello friends of Braveaurora!!!

Quizmaster Mr. James with one of the groups
This week we would like to tell you something about the quiz competition, which took place today in Guabuliga.

Every end of the month beginning this year in July, there is a quiz competition at the school in Guabuliga. They have two different levels. Level 1 is for the primary school and level 2 for the Junior High School (JHS). The best or the most motivated children from every class are chosen by their teachers to be part of the quiz. This chosen children form the different teams. Each team includes 3 children. They are asked questions by the quizmaster. The questions varied in different subjects, like Science, Maths, English and General Knowledge about Ghana. The team which has the most points (for right answers) wins the quiz competition. All the teams get different prices, depending on the points they get, for example pens, exercise books, pencils,... The reason for doing this quiz is to motivate the children to learn a lot and be good at school, so that they are chosen by the teachers to be part of the quiz-groups.
The quiz was initiated by Mr. Saibu (Educational coordinator of Guabuliga Schools) and an NGO called Camfed. This NGO sponsors the quiz competition together with Braveaurora.
