Reintegration

Last week three of our children- David, Nashira and her brother Hakeem -were reintegrated. They are now living in a house with their extended families. All of them are very happy about it.

Nashira and his brother Hakeem are very looking
forward to living home again.

The children are provided with a support package from BRAVEAURORA when they are reintegrated. This package includes basic materials like a bed, a matrace, a bucket, a sponge and a towel. Moreover the children receive some new clothes and a mango tree.
A lot of people helped to carry things
We also support the families with food like rice, maize and beans for a period of time, to improve their living standard. After some time we reduce the amount of food, to achieve sustainability, which is one of the highest aims of our work. Moreover the families are part of micro credit programme, which helps them to become financially independent.

The social workers go regularly to the families for home visits. So the children which are currently reintegrated are on an intensive supervision and monitoring to ensure their proper reunification.

There is also a childrens meeting every month were different topics, like education, health, good behaviour, child rights and responsibilities and many other related issues that help to improve their knowledge, are discussed.

Baptism

Dear friends of BRAVEAURORA,

Our names are David, Rahi, Nuura and Mariam. We were baptized on 30 th of April. It was the Easter Sunday. We want to tell you something about the ceremony.

For the ceremony we bought a white candle and white cloth, which we gave to a tailor and he sewed nice clothes for us.

That's how we looked like on our special day
Before the ceremony we had to go to three baptism interviews, who were held by the "prayer leader". There we were asked a lot of questions about the Christian religion. For example: “Who is the founder of Christians? Who did god give ten commandments to? Where did Mary gave birth to Jesus?” Our prayer leader advised us to pray every morning.

One day before our baptism, we choosed our godfather or godmother. Our godfather/godmother will help us, if we have some questions about the Christian religion. If we won’t go to church regularly they will talk with us.

We all have also Christian names. The Christian name of David is David, the Christian name of Rahi is Rose, the Christian Name of Nuura is Mary and the Christian name of Mariam is Marvis.
We all really enjoyed the ceremony and we were all very happy on this day.

Rahi:"I received the baptism, because I want to be free from sins and I want to be clean with god.
When you are baptized you will talk in god ways to people, who don't know god. You'll start to forgive people their sins. If people treat you without respect, you'll forgive them."
David: "I wanted to be baptized, because I want to be neat and I don’t want to have problems with anybody. I don’t want to sin. Now I do morning prayers every day."

Mirijam R.Volunteer

Dasuba!!N’yuuri Mirijam. N’yala yuumpiisiniayi.

Good morning!!
My name is Mirijam. I am 22 years old.

I am working as a volunteer in the project of BRAVEAURORA in Guabuliga. I have been here since 4 months now and I really enjoyed my time so far. As a volunteer I am working directly with the children in the Foster Care Community.

My duties are to plan recreational activities, bring the children to the hospital when they are ill, help and encourage them to learn and study for school (homework lessons), help to improve their hygienic situation, educate them in different topics and try to solve their daily problems.:)
Moreover we have a lot of fun together and learn from each other every day.

I work close with Severin the project leader, Dahamata the host mother and all other staff of BRAVEAURORA.

During the last month I worked also as a social worker here. I finished my studies of social work in September 2012 in Austria. So it was a good and very interesting experience for me to work here as a social worker in the reintegration project. I loved the work with the families (home visits) in the village and I learned a lot.

I really like and enjoy my time in Guabuliga. Every day brings a lot of new experiences, adventures, but also challenges.

It’s wonderful how friendly and welcoming the people in the village are. So I am very much looking forward to my next four months in Guabuliga.

N’sufu bei Guabuliga.

My heart is in Guabuliga.
